I woke up around four am, and I was starving. Considering I hadn't had much to eat the night before I decided to detach myself from my naked, snoring girlfriends and go grab myself an early-morning breakfast. I eased off the tall four poster bed and tiptoed over to the chaise lounge to slide into my earlier discarded bathrobe. I slipped on a pair of fuzzy slippers near the end of the bed- I assumed they were Lea's because of their pepto pink hue. The door creaked a little when I pushed it open, but neither girl stirred; they must have either had a lot to drink or they were just really exhausted from our sexcapades. I closed it silently and then breathed a sigh of relief as I shuffled to the dark kitchen. I loved my friends, but I was in much need of some alone time. Since that day when we had found the cave pool the three of us had been inseparable. I was beginning to find their company occasionally unbearable. Lea could be incredibly cheerful and talkative, and very influential. Scarlett was insufferably quiet; sometimes I just wanted to shake her out of her day dreams and self loathing thoughts.
There was a Tupperware cabinet next to the stove so I grabbed a plastic bowl and scrambled myself some eggs. I cooked them in the microwave with a little salt and pepper. I didn’t feel like turning on the stove this early in the morning. I grabbed a glass of orange juice from the overstocked fridge and sat in a leather armchair by the massive windows that overlooked the ocean. It was just around quarter of five and the sun would be rising soon. Even though I hadn't got much sleep I didn’t feel tired. Thankful for that, I inhaled my quickie breakfast and watched the ocean in the pre-dawn light of morning. The mansion we were staying in sat on an expanse of private beach and I was thankful for the peaceful view. I was anxious for sunrise and had the sudden urge to watch it. So I put my dishes in the sink and knelt next to my suitcase which was still sitting open in the middle of the living room. I picked out a pair of comfy jeans, and a plain blue tank and pulled them on after discarding my bathrobe. I found my sneakers near the door, and I slipped them on. I grabbed my sweatshirt and after making sure my card key was still in the front pouch I stepped into the hallway. I didn’t leave a note because I figured I would be back from my early morning walk before my friends woke up anyways. Maybe if they were lucky I would make them something tasty for breakfast.
The long hallway never failed to creep me out. The lights on the walls were old- medieval status, and the dim bulbs flickered like flames. Of course, when I got to the elevator every light in the hall went out. It freaked me out a bit, but the elevator seemed to be in working order, and I convinced myself that they were on some sort of timer. There were windows in the hall, so maybe the owner of the place just shut the hall lights off during the day? I shrugged to myself as I stepped into the elevator and pressed the button that said G, for ground. The music in the elevator had been shut off too I noticed as the ride downstairs struck me as rather silent. I was thankful when I hit the ground floor and almost jumped out as the doors creaked open.

There was no one in the grand lobby except for the night security guard, who was watching reruns of some old sitcom on TV. He looked up to nod at me briefly and then tuned back in, zoning out into the mundane laugh tracks. I zipped up my hoodie as I stepped outside into the cool morning air.
There was a slight dampness hanging in the morning air and I put my hood on as I made my way down to the private beach to watch the sunrise. When I got to the water’s edge there a slight orangey glow adorned the horizon, and I held my breath until I saw the light peeking out from the blanket of ocean. Rising up over the water the pinkish orange sun inched up until it was completely out of the water. The pristine light glared on the surface of the rippling ocean as if the sun was dripping dry, and the droplets were hitting the surface. A few seagulls took flight overhead and screeched into the bright morning light. I took a deep breath and exhaled slowly. I sat there for a while listening to the gulls and the sound of the water hitting the shore. It was calm this morning and I was tempted to dip my toes in, but decided against it as I shivered against the cool wind.
I decided it was time to go back in and get ready for my day. I figured that Lea and Scarlett wanted to hit the shore shops, and then probably grab a bite to eat for lunch. I picked my way up the beach, stepping around some discarded seaweed and grass. I shivered again, but this time there wasn’t any wind. I looked around feeling as if someone had been watching me. Looking up from the sand I peered at the mansion I was residing in. The sun glared against the many windows at the back of the building so I shielded my eyes. A cloud must have slid in front of the sun and the windows darkened again. I suddenly felt nervous about my surroundings so my eyes quickly scanned the windows. At the second to top floor a tall, lean woman was standing at her window looking down at the beach. She looked straight at me and we locked eyes for a split second. My stomach dropped as the woman smiled at me. She seriously creeped me out so I looked away, and practically ran into the building. On my way in I almost ran into the security guard as he was leaving. The desk attendant that worked the morning shift had relieved him and I waved shyly to her as I made my way to the elevator.
I took a deep breath as I pushed the button for the fourth floor. My arms were crossed at my chest and my breathing was shallow. Perturbed, I looked at the numbers at the top of the elevator. The damn thing was coming down from the top floor. I bit my lip anxiously and my intuition told me to take the stairs. I started walking down the long hallway, convincing myself I just wanted a bit of exercise. When I heard the elevator beep I hastened my step. When I heard the doors open I almost broke into a run. When I finally got to the door of the stair well I stopped because someone had called my name.
“Desiree” the cool voice called, “Where do you think you’re running off to darling?”
I turned around quickly and stared down my assailant at the other end of the hall. It was her- the woman from last night; the woman that had been staring at me from the window.
“W-what do you want?” I stammered hesitantly
“Oh, I think you already know the answer to that question.” Was her eerie response.
I turned and bolted up the stairs.

Creepy. I like how it
thank you dear! im glad you
